Decision affecting millions: Critical information removed from SGK service records
The termination codes and reasons for dismissal previously included in SGK (Social Security Institution) service records have been removed from the system. The implementation follows a landmark ruling by the Council of State regarding the protection of personal data and the right to work.

The termination codes and reasons for dismissal, which were previously found in the SGK Registration and Service Record / Workplace Title List document accessible via e-Devlet, are no longer displayed. With this change, which concerns millions of employees, information that was stated to cause problems in new job applications has been removed from the documents provided to employers.
COUNCIL OF STATE RULING INITIATED THE PROCESS
As reported by Burak Taşçı from NTV, the regulation is based on the Council of State's decision dated October 14, 2024. The court ruled that the code for "violation of moral and good faith rules," in particular, is based on the employer's unilateral declaration, and that recording allegations that have not gone through a judicial process in official records is contrary to the right to work and the Personal Data Protection Law.
WHO WILL HAVE ACCESS TO THE INFORMATION?
With the new implementation, employees can still see their own termination codes via e-Devlet. However, this information is no longer included in the service record provided to employers. Nevertheless, when a termination declaration is requested, the reason for dismissal can still be viewed in that specific document.
