A decision that will halt construction in Istanbul! 449 percent price hike

The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Assembly held its fourth meeting for the month of May at the municipal building in Saraçhane, under the chairmanship of 1st Deputy Speaker Nuri Aslan.
During the assembly, the item regarding the "2024 revised fee schedule" from the IMM Department of Financial Services, Revenue Branch Directorate, was discussed.
REVISED
Within the scope of the agenda item, the previously determined 2024 fees for infrastructure participation, excavation soil, construction and demolition waste transport, collection, disposal, and storage for Fikirtepe and its surroundings were revised.
In the proposal, it was requested that the temporary storage fee for excavation soil be increased from 1.72 liras per cubic meter to 2.18 liras, and that the excavation soil and construction/demolition waste transport permit fee be increased from 522 liras per truck to 655 liras.
Within the scope of the fee schedule for the storage of excavation soil and construction/demolition waste, it was requested that the storage fee per ton at storage sites with scales be increased by 105.26 percent, from 38 liras to 78 liras.
It was proposed that the fee for vehicles arriving at the storage site be increased by 449 percent from 135 liras to 741 liras per vehicle for up to 5 cubic meters; by 411.03 percent from 290 liras to 1,482 liras per vehicle for up to 10 cubic meters; by 241.24 percent from 608 liras to 2,074 liras and 80 kurus per vehicle for up to 14 cubic meters; and by 225 percent from 684 liras to 2,223 liras per vehicle for vehicles over 14 cubic meters.
AKP VOTED "NO"
A fee of 11,041 liras and 83 kurus was requested for each square meter of the road area corresponding to the facade alignment of the zoning parcel.
In the fee schedule for the reuse and recycling of excavation soil and construction/demolition waste, it was requested that the fee for raw materials arriving for recycling be increased from 0.88 kurus per cubic meter to 1.50 liras, and that the price for reuse, which was 3.43 liras per cubic meter as specified in the project, be increased to 4.34 liras.
The agenda item, which was voted on in this form in the assembly, was accepted by majority vote despite the "no" vote from the AKP group.
