Decline in tourism continues: Hotel occupancy drops to 26.79%

According to data released by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the hotel occupancy rate fell to 26.79% in March, reaching its lowest level since the pandemic.

According to data published by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the occupancy rate in hotels was recorded at 26.79% in March. This rate was 32.32% in the same month last year. The occupancy rate, which has fallen to its lowest level since the pandemic period, became the second-lowest level after the 21.55% rate seen in May 2021.

The total number of overnight stays in accommodation facilities in March was announced as 8 million 164 thousand 932. In the same period last year, this number was 9 million 434 thousand 940. Of the overnight stays, 4 million 190 thousand 239 were by foreign visitors, while 3 million 974 thousand 693 were by domestic visitors. The total number of visitors to the facilities was determined to be 3 million 783 thousand 525; of these, 1 million 585 thousand 146 were foreign visitors and 2 million 198 thousand 379 were domestic visitors.

The average length of stay for visitors was recorded as 2.6 days this year, compared to 2.20 days last year.

DECREASE IN VISITOR NUMBERS

In March 2025, the number of visitors decreased by 11.60% compared to the same month last year, falling to 2 million 995 thousand 27. According to provisional data obtained from the General Directorate of Security and the Turkish Statistical Institute, the number of visitors to our country in the first three months of 2025 decreased by 2.47% compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 8 million 843 thousand 538.
