Decrease in chicken meat production, increase in egg production!

Across Turkey, chicken meat production decreased by 0.4 percent in December 2023 compared to the same period of the previous year, falling to 200 thousand 333 tons. In contrast, chicken egg production increased by 6.3 percent, reaching 1 billion 855 million 505 thousand units.

The Turkish Statistical Institute announced the poultry production data for the December 2023 period.

In December, chicken meat production stood at 200 thousand 333 tons, marking a 0.4 percent decrease compared to the same period of the previous year.

Chicken egg production, on the other hand, was recorded at 1 billion 855 million 505 thousand units in December 2023, showing a 6.3 percent increase on an annual basis.

The number of chickens slaughtered in December of last year was 108 million 926 thousand. This figure showed a slight decrease compared to the same period of the previous year.

Additionally, during the same period, turkey meat production was 4 thousand 512 tons, recording a 1.5 percent decrease on an annual basis.

In the January-December period, while chicken slaughter decreased by 5.7 percent, turkey meat production decreased by 11.3 percent, chicken meat production decreased by 3.7 percent, and chicken egg production showed an increase of 4.2 percent.
