CHP Zonguldak Deputy and Deputy Chairman responsible for Public Audit and Anti-Corruption, Deniz Yavuzyılmaz, has revealed the background of the losses experienced at Zafer Airport. Yavuzyılmaz stated that at the airport, which was built using the Build-Operate-Transfer model, the guaranteed passenger number for the first 11 months of 2025 was 1,207,921, while the actual number of passengers was only 34,153. He emphasized that this situation indicates an error margin of 97.17%.

Yavuzyılmaz stated that this massive discrepancy places a serious financial burden on the Treasury, noting that the guaranteed payment the state will make to the company is 6,068,482 Euros, which is approximately 300 million TL at the current exchange rate. Describing this situation as a "handout," Yavuzyılmaz said his claims are based on official statistics from the Court of Accounts and the General Directorate of State Airports Authority (DHMİ).

Yavuzyılmaz expressed that poor planning and unrealistic passenger guarantees in such projects lead to the waste of public resources. He further emphasized that such projects must be conducted in accordance with the principles of transparency and accountability. Stating that this issue requires further investigation and that those responsible must be held accountable, Yavuzyılmaz affirmed that they will continue to follow the matter.
