Deniz Yavuzyılmaz reveals with documents: Call for regulation on Turkey's automobile taxes

China has announced that it has received a favorable ruling in the case it brought before the World Trade Organization (WTO) regarding additional taxes and import requirements imposed by Turkey on certain Chinese-origin automobiles. Following the panel's decision, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce called on Turkey to correct its "non-compliant measures."

The dispute stemmed from Turkey's implementation of additional customs duties and certain import license requirements for electric vehicles, hybrid cars, and other vehicles imported from China. The Chinese side had taken the matter to the WTO, arguing that these practices violated multilateral trade rules.

In its statement dated July 28, 2026, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce indicated that the WTO panel supported China's claims and ruled that Turkey's practices subject to the case violated WTO rules. The statement alleged that Turkey had harmed trade relations with these practices.

The ministry's statement included the following: "China calls on Turkey to respect the WTO panel's decision, take concrete steps, and correct the non-compliant measures as soon as possible."

YENİ Party member Deniz Yavuzyılmaz shared the Chinese Ministry of Commerce's statement and claimed that the development was being hidden from the Turkish public. Yavuzyılmaz argued that the government lost the case filed due to the additional tax imposed on Chinese-origin automobiles other than BYD.

In his post, Yavuzyılmaz also addressed Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat and the relevant Deputy Minister Mustafa Tuzcu, stating, "Look at the situation you have put our country in! You have botched this job. Resign immediately!"
