The new regulation on diesel prices came into effect as of midnight, bringing relief to vehicle owners. It had been stated that only a portion of the previously announced discount would be reflected at the pump; however, a larger price drop than expected occurred in practice.
It was stated that only 1.79 TL of the 7.17 TL discount, which was expected to be valid on Saturday, May 9, would be reflected in prices. However, with a last-minute update, the entire discount was directly reflected in diesel prices. Thus, drivers gained an advantage far beyond what was planned.
Vehicle owners began purchasing fuel at the new prices starting in the morning hours. Activity was observed at stations following the news of the discount.
Gasoline, diesel, and LPG prices in Turkey's major cities were shaped as follows:
In Istanbul, on the European side, the price per liter of gasoline became 63.81 TL, diesel 66.25 TL, and LPG 33.89 TL. On the Anatolian side, gasoline is sold at 63.67 TL, diesel at 66.11 TL, and LPG at 33.29 TL.
In Ankara, the price per liter of gasoline fell to 64.78 TL, diesel to 67.38 TL, and LPG to 33.87 TL.
In Izmir, the price per liter of gasoline was set at 65.06 TL, diesel at 67.65 TL, and LPG at 33.69 TL.
Global oil prices and exchange rates continue to play an important role in determining fuel prices. Experts emphasize that such sudden discounts may vary depending on fluctuations in international markets and the tax system.
Vehicle users hope that the new prices will continue for some time.
