Diyanet's 2027 budget surpasses 6 ministries
As the 2027 budget allocations were finalized, the 229.1 billion TL allocated to the Presidency of Religious Affairs (Diyanet) drew attention. Diyanet's budget surpassed the allocations of six ministries, including the Interior, Industry and Technology, Foreign Affairs, and Culture and Tourism ministries.

Following the publication of the Medium-Term Program (MTP) in the Official Gazette, the 2027 budget allocation ceilings for public administrations have been clarified. The total allocation ceiling determined for administrations within the general budget is 24 trillion 854 billion 241.7 million TL.
Compared to the initial allocation of 18 trillion 801 billion 514.8 million TL in the 2026 budget, a 32.2 percent increase in total resources is projected. This rate is also above the 2026 year-end inflation forecast, which was updated to 28.4 percent in the MTP.
Decreases in the allocations of some ministries in the budget proposals drew attention. While the highest cut was seen in the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure with 44.6 percent, a 29.3 percent decrease was projected for the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, 25.1 percent for the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, 18 percent for the Ministry of Industry and Technology, and 0.4 percent for the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
At a time when food prices, production costs, and farmers' access to finance are on the agenda, the budget of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, which was 541.8 billion TL in 2026, is projected to decline to 383 billion TL in 2027.
DIYANET'S ALLOCATION IS 229.1 BILLION TL
According to a report by Birgün, the 2027 budget of the Presidency of Religious Affairs (Diyanet) has been set at 229.1 billion TL, an increase of 31.4 percent compared to the 2026 initial allocation. This amount exceeded the allocations projected for six ministries.
The resources allocated to Diyanet surpassed the 158.5 billion TL allocation of the Ministry of Interior, the 145.1 billion TL of the Ministry of Industry and Technology, the 104.2 billion TL of the Ministry of Trade, the 69.7 billion TL of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the 64.4 billion TL of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the 27 billion TL of the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources.
Accordingly, Diyanet's projected budget for 2027 is equivalent to approximately 8.5 times the budget of the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, 3.6 times the budget of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and 3.3 times the budget of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
