The Turkish Statistical Institute (TURKSTAT) has announced the economic confidence index for June 2025. The index increased by 0.1 percent compared to the previous month, reaching 96.71. However, this limited rise revealed that confidence in the economy has not increased. Since the index remains below the 100-point mark, it shows that the public and the market hold negative expectations regarding the general economic situation.
MINIMAL INCREASE FROM MAY TO JUNE
The economic confidence index, which was at 96.65 in May, increased by only 0.06 points in June to 96.71. This increase remained far from signaling a significant improvement in the economy.
A score of 100 points is considered the threshold for the economic confidence index. An index above 100 indicates optimism regarding the economy, while a score below 100 points to pessimism. The June data clearly demonstrates that confidence in the Turkish economy has not yet recovered.
CAUTIOUS WAITING CONTINUES
The fact that the economic confidence index continues to remain below the 100-point threshold shows that the expectations of investors and consumers regarding the economy remain cautious.
