Effective today: Price list system creates satisfaction

A new regulation went into effect in cafes and restaurants as of January 1, 2024.

Within the framework of the regulation, it will now be mandatory for cafes and restaurants to place price lists at the entrance and on tables.

Depending on the nature of the services and the way they are presented to the consumer, documents, signs, boards, and similar items regarding tariffs and price lists must be hung and placed in the workplace where the service is provided, and in places such as diners, restaurants, cafes, patisseries, and similar food and beverage service establishments, they must be placed in front of the entrance door and on the tables where service is provided, in a way that can be easily seen and read by consumers.

Shopkeeper Kemal Imrak, who stated that he has always had a price tariff in front of his shop, said that having the tariff in a visible place is reassuring for incoming customers. Stating that in this situation, the customer knows what they will eat and drink and for how much, Imrak expressed that they can eat their meal and pay the fee with peace of mind.

Customer Sayıt Yakut, who said that the menu is in a visible place and the prices are reasonable, stated, "I am also a shopkeeper; I have a tea garden. The menu must be visible. People should also see the price of the flavor they are receiving."

Saraçlar Street shopkeeper Ömer Tuzcu said, "Edirne is a city that receives many guests from outside. It is not possible for these people to know Turkish. These visiting guests have to conduct their business by looking at visual posters. Unfortunately, some shopkeepers take advantage of this situation. Placing labels is a very appropriate practice to prevent this."
