President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, in his speech at the AKP Economic Affairs Department Training Program, drew attention to the cost of living and the rise in rental housing prices. Stating, "Our primary priority is to solve the cost of living problem at its root," Erdoğan announced that the state will take on a more effective role in rental planning.
THE STATE'S NEW ROLE IN RENTAL PLANNING
Erdoğan said, "We will initiate a process of affordable renting by having the state rent out social housing units itself. With this work, which we call the housing project of the century, we will build a total of 500 thousand social housing units in our 81 provinces."
He stated that special quotas will be reserved for groups such as relatives of martyrs, veterans, retirees, and families with three children through this project.
Expressing that a rental housing practice will be implemented for the first time in Turkey through TOKİ, Erdoğan said that some of the social housing units will be rented out under favorable conditions to provide support to low-income families.
He also emphasized that this housing project will play an important role in the fight against inflation and will contribute to reaching the single-digit inflation target.
Erdoğan stated that there is no change in the government's growth policy, which centers on production, investment, and employment, and announced that they will share this project with the nation at the end of October.
