Erdoğan had highlighted 'public spending' on the plane: He forgot the Palace

CHP Deputy Chairman Burhanettin Bulut wrote an article highlighting the expenditures of the Presidential Palace. In his article, Bulut compared the expenditures of the first 3 months of this year with those of last year. 

NO SAVINGS

Stating that expenditures have increased by 120 percent, Bulut used the following expressions:

"While the palace's January expenditure last year was 247 million 619 thousand TL, it rose to 446 million 343 thousand TL this year; while the February expenditure was 470 million 729 thousand TL, it rose to 1 billion 454 million 809 thousand TL this year; while the March expenditure was 289 million 794 thousand TL, it rose to 320 million 678 thousand TL this year"

INCREASED BY 120 PERCENT

Stating that Palace expenditures, which were 1 billion 8 million 142 thousand TL in the first three months of 2023, rose to 2 billion 221 million 830 thousand TL in the same period this year, Bulut reported that Palace expenditures increased by 120 percent in the mentioned 3-month period.

"HE IS LOADING IT ONTO THE CITIZEN'S BACK"

Calling on President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who said, “The primary goal is to implement savings in public spending,” to start savings from the Palace, Bulut said, “The government is loading the burden of the deteriorating economy and budget deficits onto the backs of citizens whose salaries are melting away day by day against inflation. It is the citizens who cannot even make ends meet at the end of the month who suffer.”

Noting that everything is permitted for the Palace, which advises patience to retirees and does not raise pensions saying there is 'no source', Bulut continued as follows:

“Millions of retirees are trying to sustain their lives at the hunger threshold. While a retiree who has served the state for years should live a comfortable life, they are struggling with the cost of living. While the public is condemned to queues for cheap bread and cheap meat, and retirees are condemned to a misery wage of 10 thousand TL, it is unacceptable for the palace to squander the citizens' taxes.”

WHAT DID HE SAY ON THE PLANE RETURNING FROM IRAQ?

Answering journalists' questions on the plane returning from Iraq, Erdoğan touched upon savings and stated that they were determined. Erdoğan's sentences are as follows:

"Our Ministry of Treasury and Finance will follow the savings steps; all expenditures from official vehicle usage to communication expenses, representation, ceremonies, hospitality services, and procurement of fixtures will be reviewed. Real needs will be identified and unnecessary expenditures will be cut off. We have to take austerity measures to increase the welfare of our nation. For this, we are determined as a government to do whatever is necessary. Our priority and primary goal is to implement savings in public spending, reduce inflation, and ease the economy. We have succeeded in this before. We will succeed again."
