Establishment permits for two investment banks revoked

The establishment permits for SLM Yatırım Bankası A.Ş. and Asır Yatırım Bankası A.Ş., which were planned to operate in the banking sector, have been revoked by a decision published in the Official Gazette.

The Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BDDK) has announced its decision regarding the revocation of the permits of two institutions in the field of investment banking. With this decision, SLM Yatırım Bankası A.Ş. and Asır Yatırım Bankası A.Ş. have been prevented from commencing banking operations.

According to the decision published by the BDDK, following an evaluation regarding the establishment permit of SLM Yatırım Bankası A.Ş., the revocation of the permit was ordered under the relevant clause of Article 11 of the Banking Law No. 5411. The decision stated: "At the Board meeting dated 12.03.2026, as a result of the examination of the letter dated 18.12.2025 with reference E-20008792-101.01.01-175564 and its annexes; it has been decided to revoke the establishment permit of SLM Yatırım Bankası A.Ş., which was granted by the Board's decision dated 04.05.2023 and numbered 10594, in accordance with clause (d) of Article 11 of the Banking Law No. 5411."

Similarly, it was reported that the establishment permit for Asır Yatırım Bankası A.Ş. was also revoked following investigations. The decision included the following statements: "At the Board meeting dated 12.03.2026, as a result of the examination of the letter dated 11.03.2026 with reference E-20008792-101.01.01-18411 and its annexes; it has been decided to revoke the establishment permit of Asır Yatırım Bankası A.Ş., which was granted by the Board's decision dated 23.03.2023 and numbered 10541, in accordance with clause (c) of Article 11 of the Banking Law No. 5411, without prejudice to the provisions of the Turkish Commercial Code."
