European Bank for Reconstruction and Development to increase paid-in capital by 4 billion euros
Shareholders of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) have decided to increase the bank's paid-in capital by 4 billion euros, raising its capital base to 34 billion euros.

In a statement from the EBRD, it was recalled that the recommendation to increase the bank's paid-in capital by 4 billion euros was submitted to the bank's board of governors last month, and it was announced that the board approved the capital increase to take effect as of December 31, 2024.
The statement reported that the bank will use the additional capital provided to support the real economy in Ukraine through sustainable investments.
In the statement, which included her remarks, EBRD President Odile Renaud-Basso said, "This is a historic moment for the EBRD. The decision taken by our shareholders once again reaffirms their confidence in the bank through this unique business model that creates mission and impact."
The institution has 72 national shareholders in addition to the European Union and the European Investment Bank.
The bank, which most recently saw Iraq join as a shareholder last month, has facilitated investments exceeding a total of 190 billion euros in over 6,800 projects since its establishment in 1991.
