Expert reveals 'minimum wage' hike scenarios

Speaking about the minimum wage hike, President Erdoğan said, "Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan is currently working on it."
ERDOĞAN SAYS 'ONCE' A YEAR HIKE
Erdoğan stated, "After that, we will decide on the most appropriate minimum wage. The whole issue is to reach a result without victimizing the parties. As you know, the minimum wage is already set once a year. With the raise to be given once, this matter is settled. The primary person responsible for this is our Minister of Labor, Vedat Işıkhan. We have not let our citizens be crushed until today, and we will not let them be crushed."
'HIKE' SCENARIOS FOR MINIMUM WAGE
On the other hand, Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan announced that the Minimum Wage Determination Commission will hold its first meeting on December 11. Social Security Expert Emin Yılmaz stated the following on a live broadcast on CNN Türk:
“If year-end inflation is 62 percent, with a 35.26 percent hike in the last 6 months, it will rise from 11 thousand 402 TL to 15 thousand 422 liras,
If year-end inflation is 65 percent, with a 37.77 percent hike, it will rise to 15 thousand 708 liras,
If year-end inflation is 68 percent, with a 40.26 percent hike, it will rise to 15 thousand 992 liras.
When we look at past periods, there was also a welfare share addition to this. Here, with a 10 percent addition to 40 percent, it would reach 50 percent. In that case, it seems possible for it to be 17 thousand 103 TL.”
Meanwhile, Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan had said regarding the efforts to determine the new minimum wage, "As always, we will carry out this process with our worker and employer representatives with an understanding of consensus and agreement, and with sensitivity."
Reminding that they will start commission meetings on December 11 to determine the 2024 minimum wage level, Işıkhan had said, "As always, we will carry out this process with our worker and employer representatives with an understanding of consensus and agreement, and with sensitivity. I believe that no matter what the conditions are, we will build the strong, prosperous Turkey of the future together."
