The 15-member Minimum Wage Determination Commission, consisting of representatives from workers, employers, and the government, met under the host of the Ministry of Labor and Social Security.

The 2nd minimum wage meeting has taken place.

While no announcement regarding the minimum wage figure was made following the meeting, the parties stated that they would meet again within this week.

MINIMUM WAGE STATEMENT FROM PORTAKAL

As the second meeting of the minimum wage commission also concluded without a result, journalist Fatih Portakal shared a post on his social media account regarding the process.

Stating that the meetings held were a formality, Portakal also announced the new year's minimum wage figure.

Here is that post by Fatih Portakal:

"A Türk-İş official says 'no figures were discussed regarding the minimum wage.' If no figures are being mentioned at all, why are you meeting?

The truth of the matter is this: employer and worker representatives are just going through the motions. In today's Turkey, they have no power to determine the figure. The government will determine the figure. Both will say 'accepted.' Period!

I am writing it again: the new wage will be between 16,500 and 16,900 TL. Oh well, I announced this year's minimum wage before the government did!"
