Filiz Korkmazer, who has begun serving in the management team of the National Bank of Belgium, will assume critical responsibilities regarding monetary policy and financial stability. Supported by the Christian Democrats, Korkmazer has been officially appointed as a Director of the Central Bank.
Of Turkish origin, Filiz Korkmazer began her professional career as a legal expert at the Debt Agency following her law studies at the universities of Paris and Ghent. Korkmazer continued her rise in the field of economics through roles she held in the cabinets of Koen Geens and Vincent Van Peteghem. She particularly drew attention for her effective role in the state bond campaign that garnered significant interest in 2023.
Most recently, following her tenure at the Federal Public Service Finance, Korkmazer stood out for the successful projects she implemented in the field of economic law reform. With her new position, she has taken her place among the figures who will have a say in Belgium's economic policies.
