First statement from TÜSİAD regarding election results: 'Must focus on structural reforms'

TÜSİAD issued a statement following the March 31 Local Elections.

In the written statement, it was said, "We hope this will be a period in which cooperation between central and local governments is strengthened in all areas, especially in disaster management."

The full text of TÜSİAD's election statement is as follows:

"We have left behind the local government elections, one of the fundamental elements of democracy. We congratulate our mayors and local administrators who will begin their duties.

We wish our local governments success in their efforts to improve the quality of life for all our citizens in cities, and in their work toward good governance and effective service delivery. We hope this will be a period in which cooperation between central and local governments is strengthened in all areas, especially in disaster management.

Following the local elections, we must work together to reach the goal of a more developed, respected, fair, and environmentally friendly Turkey by rapidly focusing on structural reforms that will strengthen our economy, our democracy, and our legal system."
