When a daily grocery receipt from 2014 is examined in 2024, the striking difference caused by inflation emerges.
According to the report in Ekonomim, it was observed that the prices on the receipt increased by 1,535 percent in a calculation made at the same market in 2024.
While it was observed that the change in the “food and non-alcoholic beverages” item in the index values of expenditure groups in the details of TurkStat CPI data was an increase of 1,282 percent in the same period, the change in the calculation made on the same dates in the inflation calculator on the CBRT’s “economy for everyone” page was 973.62 percent based on the general CPI.
The items on the receipt cost 62 lira and 23 kuruş in June 2014.
In the calculation made at the same market with products in stock for the same items, the same shopping trip cost 1,017.49 TL in November 2024.
The most striking increase was seen in tomatoes and eggplants, while seasonal effects were also notable.
