2025 salary increases are being determined: How much will the lowest pension be?

SSK, Bağ-Kur, and civil servant retirees are holding their breath to learn the raise rates they will receive in January.

The December inflation figures to be announced by TURKSTAT tomorrow will reveal the 6-month inflation difference for the second half of 2024. Thus, the salary increases for retirees and civil servants will be finalized.

RAISE PREDICTIONS FROM EXPERTS

Economists and social security experts have announced their expectations regarding the raise rates for pensions.

Here are the expert opinions:

Economist Muhammet Bayram: We expect a 16-17 percent raise

According to economist Bayram, a raise of 16 to 17 percent is expected for SSK and Bağ-Kur retirees. Bayram stated, “We have entered a period where economic conditions are starting to improve. However, it is not expected that a welfare share will be added to this raise rate.”

Stating that the lowest pension could be increased to 15,000 TL with a 20 percent increase, Bayram noted that this amount could reach 17,500 TL in the highest scenario.

Social Security Consultant Emin Yılmaz: A 16.50 percent difference is coming

Emin Yılmaz announced that an inflation difference of 16.50 percent is expected for SSK and Bağ-Kur retirees. For civil servants and civil servant retirees, he stated that the total salary increase, including the collective bargaining raise, could be 12.26 percent.

Yılmaz said that the lowest civil servant pension could rise from 17,586 TL to 19,742 TL, and the salary of a single civil servant could rise from 36,236 TL to 40,678 TL.

Ahmet Kurtuluş: Raise equalization is on the agenda

Certified Public Accountant Ahmet Kurtuluş stated that the raise differences between worker and civil servant retirees could be equalized. Kurtuluş said, “A welfare share regulation can be made as in previous periods. The lowest pension is expected to rise to the 15,000 TL level.”

HOW MUCH WILL THE LOWEST PENSION BE?

Experts estimate that the lowest pension, which is currently 12,000 TL, could be between 15,000 TL and 17,500 TL with an increase of 20 to 40 percent. However, the inflation data to be announced by TURKSTAT is awaited for this increase to be finalized.

RAISE RATE FOR CIVIL SERVANTS AND CIVIL SERVANT RETIREES

For civil servants and civil servant retirees, the collective bargaining raise, combined with the inflation difference, will determine the salary increase. If December inflation occurs at 1.72 percent:

Inflation difference: 5.90 percent

Collective bargaining raise: 6 percent

Total raise rate: 12.26 percent

With these rates, the lowest civil servant salary will rise from 36,236 TL to 40,678 TL, and the civil servant pension will rise from 17,586 TL to 19,742 TL.

WILL A WELFARE SHARE BE ADDED?

Since 2024 was declared the “Year of Retirees,” the possibility of adding a welfare share to salary increases is also on the agenda. It is stated that the welfare share could provide an additional raise of 20 to 25 percent to all retirees.
