MINISTRY ISSUES OFFICIAL STATEMENT

The Ministry's official statement said, "Reports that occasionally surface regarding the abolition of the right of withdrawal for certain online purchases do not reflect the truth."

The Ministry stated that the new regulation published in the Official Gazette on August 10, 2024, postponed the decision to implement the change in question until January 1, 2026.

LAWSUIT FILED TO HALT THE REGULATION

Mahmut Şahin, Chairman of the Consumers Union, said that they have filed a lawsuit regarding the regulation and that the court has not yet reached a decision. Şahin said, "We filed a lawsuit to halt this regulation 1.5 years ago, but a decision has still not been made. If a cancellation decision is issued, we wonder how the damages incurred during this process will be compensated."

With these statements, the Ministry of Trade announced that the rights of consumers shopping online will be protected until 2026 and that changes regarding the right of withdrawal will only come into effect after that date.
