A critical warning has been issued concerning millions of employees planning for retirement. Experts have reported that occupation code information on e-Devlet must be checked, as incorrect codes can negatively impact the retirement process.

Many employees do not know which occupation code they are registered under in the SGK system. However, this code plays a decisive role, especially in sectors where the "wear and tear" allowance (actual service period increase) is applied.

INCORRECT CODES CHANGE CALCULATIONS

Errors in the occupation code can lead to premiums being processed incompletely or incorrectly, working periods not being reflected accurately, and significant discrepancies in retirement calculations.

For this reason, it is of great importance for employees to check their records regularly.

SGK Expert Melis Elmen stated that inconsistencies in occupation codes could cause serious problems in the future and made the following remarks:

“In some periods, codes may have been entered differently. This situation is very critical in professions that have a wear and tear allowance. For example, you may have the right to a wear and tear allowance in fields such as press, maritime, or mining. However, if you are a sales manager but appear as a tea server in the system, this is a serious problem.”

An incorrectly entered occupation code can cause a difference between the retirement period calculated by employees themselves and the one calculated by the SGK.

Therefore, experts recommend that everyone regularly check their service record via e-Devlet.

It is noted that employees who detect errors in their records can contact their employer to request a correction.
