New information has emerged regarding the increase to be made to the holiday bonus for retirees who are trying to make ends meet under difficult economic conditions.
According to the Sabah newspaper, an increase of between 1,000 and 1,500 liras is planned for the retiree holiday bonus.
HOW MUCH WILL THE BONUS AMOUNT BE?
According to the report, the retiree bonus, which is currently paid at 4,000 liras, will rise to 5,500 liras with the highest planned increase. The increase amount is expected to be between 1,000 and 1,500 liras.
Journalist İsmail Saymaz made assessments regarding the increase to be made to retiree bonuses before the Ramadan and Eid al-Adha holidays. Saymaz's remarks on the subject were reported as follows:
“At the same time, a raise is being considered for the retiree holiday bonus. An increase of between 1,000 and 1,500 is foreseen for that as well. How much is it right now? A retiree bonus between 5,000 and 5,500.
That's fine, but now this retiree, we have two holidays ahead, Ramadan. I mean, this should be increased a bit more. It will go toward debt, that's the holiday. Because people have holidays and celebrations, they will give pocket money. They will buy candy, they will host their guests. After that comes the sacrifice holiday. Traveling from one place to another.”
“AT LEAST LET THE RETIREE GIVE SOME POCKET MONEY”
Saymaz also expressed his assessment that the bonus might not be sufficient for daily needs with the following words:
“At the very least, they could go somewhere. I've given up on going somewhere. Forget about going somewhere. I'm saying they will buy candy for the holiday. I'm saying, let them not go anywhere. I mean, at least let them offer candy to the person coming to their house. Let them put some pocket money in the pocket of the child who comes to the door. So they can feel that the holiday has arrived. Let them not shut themselves inside when the holiday comes. I don't know, let them go out on the holiday, the first day of Ramadan, a person has fasted for 30 days. Let them go on the first day of Ramadan, go eat and drink somewhere when they see it.”
