July raise is approaching! Salary differences for civil servants and retirees have been determined

According to the current picture, SSK and Bağ-Kur retirees have already guaranteed a 13.36 percent raise, while civil servants and civil servant retirees have guaranteed a 12.29 percent raise. The inflation data for the remaining two months will push these rates higher.
Social Security Consultant Emin Yılmaz drew attention to the Central Bank Market Participants Survey in his statement to Milliyet. According to the survey, May inflation is expected to be 2.20 percent, and June inflation is expected to be 1.70 percent. With this data, the total 6-month inflation is estimated to be around 17.82 percent.
By law, retirees are given salary adjustments twice a year. These raises, which take place in January and July, are determined according to the inflation rate. Emin Yılmaz stated that the 13.36 percent raise has been finalized so far and that an increase of 17.82 percent is expected in total.
For civil servants and civil servant retirees, the raise calculation is made not only with inflation but also with collective bargaining agreement rates. Stating that the 12.29 percent portion has been finalized as of April, Yılmaz expressed that a raise rate of 16.71 percent will emerge in line with the expected inflation and the contract raise.
Due to the effect of the collective bargaining agreement, civil servant raises generally remain below those of SSK and Bağ-Kur retirees. Yılmaz emphasized that the 15 percent, 10 percent, 6 percent, and 5 percent rates determined within the scope of the 7th Term Collective Bargaining Agreement are used in the raise calculation and that this is why a difference occurs. However, he added that this system is also a protection mechanism.
WILL THE RAISES BE EQUALIZED?
According to estimates, SSK and Bağ-Kur retirees will receive a 17.82 percent raise, while civil servants and civil servant retirees will receive a 16.71 percent raise. Although the 1.11 percent difference between them does not create a major impact on a salary basis, the possibility of equalization is seen as low. Saying, “I do not expect equalization to be made for the two groups,” Yılmaz stated that the process will proceed within the current legal framework.
