In Turkey, more than 9 million people are covered under the General Health Insurance (GSS) system and are required to pay monthly premiums equivalent to 3 percent of the gross minimum wage.
For 2024, this amount was set at 600 Turkish Lira. Citizens with debts to the system will lose their right to access healthcare services as of January 1.
It has been stated that preparations are underway within the AKP regarding GSS premium debts. An amnesty for GSS premium debtors is expected in the omnibus bill proposal.
IS AN AMNESTY COMING FOR GSS DEBTS?
According to a report by Hürriyet, with the proposal planned to be submitted to Parliament in the coming days, which is expected to consist of approximately nine articles, General Health Insurance premium debts will not be collected.
It has been learned that approximately 400 thousand people will benefit from the amnesty for GSS premium debts, for which the 10-year statute of limitations will expire on January 1, 2025.
With this regulation, the state will waive 250 million TL in receivables.
Furthermore, the proposal plans to establish an important umbrella organization specialized in the field of occupational health and safety in provincial centers.
In this context, all general and regulatory reports regarding occupational health and safety will be obtainable from centers to be established under the name ÇASMER.
