Payments are changing: Figures provided for disability pension and paid military service fee hikes
The December inflation figures to be announced tomorrow will affect many payments, from civil servant and retiree salaries to the severance pay ceiling, and from paid military service fees to disability and old-age pensions. With the hikes to be implemented in 2025, the severance pay ceiling will rise to 46,920 TL, while disability pensions will increase by 12-16 percent. The Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) will announce the December inflation rate on January 3, 2025. According to expectations, inflation in the final month of 2024 will be 1.61 percent. Thus, the 6-month inflation will reach 16.42 percent. This rate will directly determine the salary hikes for civil servants and retirees.
HIKE RATE FOR CIVIL SERVANT AND RETIREE SALARIES
According to estimated data, retiree pensions will show an increase of 16.42 percent. The salary hikes for civil servants and retired civil servants will be 12.18 percent, including the collective bargaining agreement and inflation difference. The increased salaries will be deposited into accounts starting from January 2025.
SEVERANCE PAY CEILING IS RISING
The severance pay floor, which rose to 26,004 TL with the minimum wage increase, will be rearranged along with inflation. The severance pay ceiling will rise from 41,827 TL to 46,920 TL. The new figures will be announced by the Ministry of Treasury and Finance after the finalized 6-month inflation data.
PAID MILITARY SERVICE
The paid military service fee will be updated according to the civil servant salary coefficient. The paid military service fee, which was 217,871 TL in 2024, will exceed 244,000 TL in 2025.
HIKE IN OLD-AGE AND DISABILITY PENSIONS
The increase in civil servant salaries will also be reflected in old-age and disability pensions. The old-age pension will rise from 4,180 TL to 4,690 TL. Disability pensions paid according to the disability rate will show an increase of 12-16 percent:
For those with a disability rate of 40-69 percent: 3,743 TL.
For those with a disability rate of 70 percent and above: 5,616 TL.
The disability relative pension will also rise to 3,358 TL.
HOME CARE AND CHILD SUPPORT PAYMENTS ARE INCREASING
Home care support will rise from 9,077 TL to 10,180 TL as of the new year. Child support payments will also be hiked and reach the following levels:
Preschool: 4,837 TL.
Primary school: 7,255 TL.
Secondary education: 7,739 TL
