The legislative proposal regulating the holiday bonus payment for retirees could not be discussed in the Parliamentary General Assembly once again. The 4,000 lira bonus, which is planned to be paid before the Ramadan Feast, has entered a period of uncertainty due to Parliament's inability to work.
THREE ATTEMPTS TO OPEN THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY
During the roll calls held yesterday, a quorum could not be reached three times because AKP and MHP deputies did not cast their votes. Following this, the Deputy Speaker of Parliament closed the session and announced that the General Assembly would reconvene on Tuesday, March 25, at 15:00.

On the other hand, CHP deputies brought their reactions to the detention of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu to Parliament. While the CHP continued its protests in the General Assembly, it was noted that the AK Party and MHP benches remained empty.
CHP Group Deputy Chairman Ali Mahir Başarır reacted specifically to AKP Group Deputy Chairwoman Özlem Zengin leaving the General Assembly, stating, "Ms. Özlem, where are you going? Cast your vote, why are you shutting down Parliament?"
WILL IT BE READY BEFORE THE HOLIDAY?
For the holiday bonus payment to retirees, the legal regulation must pass through Parliament. It is not possible for the payments to be made before the proposal is accepted.
The fact that the Ramadan Feast will be celebrated between March 30 and April 1 has caused the timeline to become tight. Once the law is passed, the payments are expected to be deposited into accounts shortly thereafter.
