The process has accelerated for the holiday bonus raise, which concerns 16.5 million retirees. The AKP will submit the legislative proposal providing for an increase in the holiday bonus to the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) on Monday, March 10.
With the regulation to be enacted, the goal is to pay retirees their increased bonuses before the Ramadan Feast.
3 DIFFERENT RAISE OPTIONS ON THE AGENDA
AKP officials are focusing on three different alternatives to increase the current 3,000 TL holiday bonus.
The figures on the table are as follows:
500 TL raise → Bonus will be 3,500 TL
750 TL raise → Bonus will be 3,750 TL
1,000 TL raise → Bonus will be 4,000 TL
Government officials are continuing their work to determine the most appropriate figure that will satisfy retirees while maintaining budget balances.
WHEN WILL THE INCREASED BONUS BE PAID?
The regulation will be included in the omnibus bill prepared by the AKP and will be discussed in the TBMM Planning and Budget Committee next week. Subsequently, it will be voted on in the TBMM General Assembly to become law. The goal is to pay retirees their increased bonuses before the Ramadan Feast.
Retirees are paid a holiday bonus twice every year. Since a legal regulation is required for these bonuses, which are given during the Ramadan Feast and the Feast of Sacrifice, parliamentary approval is awaited for the raise to take effect.
