The Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) announced the inflation rate for June 2024 as 1.37 percent.
With this data, the salary increases for millions of retirees and civil servants have been finalized. The raise for retirees is determined based on the inflation rate for the first 6 months of the year, while for civil servants, the inflation difference and the collective bargaining agreement raise were calculated together.
16.67 PERCENT RAISE FOR RETIREE SALARIES
SGK and Bağ-Kur retirees will receive a raise equal to the total inflation difference of 16.67 percent that occurred in the January-June period.
The inflation rate for the first 5 months of 2024 was 15.09 percent. With the 1.37 percent increase in June, the total 6-month inflation rate reached 16.67 percent.
According to this calculation, the lowest pension will increase from 14,500 TL to 16,880 TL.
15.57 PERCENT RAISE FOR CIVIL SERVANTS AND RETIRED CIVIL SERVANTS
Civil servants and retired civil servants had already secured a 10 percent raise for the 6-month period under the collective bargaining agreement. When the resulting inflation difference is added to this, the total raise rate has been finalized at 15.57 percent.
CAN THE RAISE RATE INCREASE? GOVERNMENT DECISION AWAITED
Although the raise rates are shaped in line with TUIK data, there is a possibility that the government may add a welfare share. However, no additional increase was made last year. No official announcement regarding an additional raise has been made for this year yet.
