Retirees have their eyes on holiday bonuses! Will they increase? Expectations have risen
Millions of retirees are waiting for an increase in holiday bonuses. Kazım Ergün, Chairman of the Turkey Retirees Association (TÜED), stated that the bonuses should be updated according to current economic conditions and emphasized that this regulation is essential for retirees to spend their holidays comfortably.

TÜED Chairman Kazım Ergün stated that the provision of holiday bonuses to retirees was realized as a result of the association's long-standing struggle, reminding that bonuses of 1,000 liras each began to be paid for the first time in 2018 during Ramadan and Eid al-Adha.
With the increases made in subsequent years, the bonus amount paid for each holiday was raised to 3,000 liras. However, stating that holiday bonuses have lost value in the face of high inflation, Ergün said, "In 2018, one could buy a small sacrificial animal and travel to their hometown with 1,000 liras, but today this is not possible with 3,000 liras."
"BONUSES HAVE ERODED AGAINST INFLATION"
TÜED Chairman Ergün emphasized that retirees are living under difficult conditions, saying, "Due to the rapid rise in inflation in recent years, holiday bonuses have lost their purchasing power."
He noted that while millions of retirees are struggling to make ends meet with the lowest pension of 14,469 liras, intense demands for an increase in bonuses are coming to TÜED every day. Ergün said, "Holiday bonuses should be a balm for our retirees' troubles and ensure they can spend the holiday in the true sense of the word."
WILL A NEW REGULATION BE MADE?
TÜED Chairman Ergün stated that bonuses must be updated so that retirees can spend the holidays, which symbolize embracing, reunion, and solidarity, as they deserve.
Emphasizing that holiday bonuses should be raised to a level worthy of their name, Ergün called on the government, saying, "The bonus should be increased to a level that will contribute to our retirees' budgets."
