Regardless of the calculated pension amount for retirees, payments are not made below the minimum pension determined by the state.
Base pension support is provided through a regulation that covers approximately 4 million retirees, which was initiated during the pandemic period and subsequently made permanent.
This support is redetermined by the government during every adjustment period in January and July. The last update was made in July, and the lowest pension began to be applied at 16,881 TL.
Three different scenarios are being evaluated for the new year. Calculations are based on the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey's (TCMB) year-end inflation forecast range of 31–33 percent.
Accordingly, the base pension is calculated as 18,954 TL for a 31 percent inflation forecast, 19,100 TL for a 32 percent inflation forecast, and 19,243 TL for a 33 percent inflation forecast.
In these calculations, the base pension is increased by the 6-month inflation rate.
According to the report in Sabah, in line with these expectations, it is projected that the lowest retirement pension will rise to around 20,000 TL. For all retirees whose calculated pension remains below this level, payments will be topped up to the determined base pension amount.
