SSI inspections intensified: Pensions of those individuals will be cut

The Social Security Institution (SSI) has intensified its inspections to identify individuals who appear to be divorced from their spouses but in reality continue to live together.
As a result of the examinations, it was determined that 4,832 people had been receiving pensions unfairly through fake divorces within the last two years, and these individuals' pensions were cancelled.
DENUNCIATIONS UNDER SCRUTINY
The SSI meticulously evaluates reports regarding fake divorces and directs inspection teams to the field. Within the scope of the inspections, individuals who continue to live with their spouses after a divorce are identified.
The institution continues its investigations to prevent such fraudulent divorces.
INSPECTIONS ARE INCREASING
According to the news in Türkiye newspaper, SSI inspectors regularly put fake divorces under the microscope every year. While inspections were conducted on 2,979 people as of the end of 2023, this number exceeded 3,000 last year.
In the examinations conducted, it was revealed that 2,418 people in 2023 and 2,414 people in 2024 had engaged in fake divorces.
While legal action is being initiated against the identified individuals, the pensions received unfairly have also been stopped. As a result of the work carried out by the SSI, the pensions of 4,832 people have been cut in the last two years.
