The limit on electricity is narrowing: Is state support coming to an end?
Energy Minister Bayraktar announced that the 4,000 kWh subsidized consumption limit, which will come into effect in 2026, could be lowered even further. Signals have been given for a new era in which state support will shrink.

The tiered tariff to be applied to electricity bills in the new period has come to the agenda once again. Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar gave critical messages that closely concern consumers during his remarks at the 15th Turkey Energy Summit held in Istanbul.
In his speech, touching upon the decision taken by the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK), Bayraktar reminded that the annual subsidized consumption limit for residential subscribers has been reduced from 5,000 kilowatt-hours to 4,000 kilowatt-hours.
This regulation will come into effect as of January 1, 2026.
“WE MAY LOWER IT BY ANOTHER TIER IN 2026”
Emphasizing that the limit in question is not final, Minister Bayraktar stated that the limit could be reviewed again in the future. Bayraktar used the following expression:
“We may probably lower it by another tier in 2026.”
THE GAP IS NARROWING
Bayraktar's words reveal that with the further reduction of the annual consumption limit, the number of households benefiting from the subsidized tariff will also decrease.
Thus, it is understood that a new process will begin in the tiered tariff application towards narrowing the scope of state support.
