Every individual who has reached the age of 18 can earn the right to retire by paying optional insurance premiums without working.
Especially young people and women working at home will be able to gain social security and qualify for retirement thanks to this system.
A NEW METHOD FOR YOUNG PEOPLE AND WOMEN
According to the report by Sabah, a part-time job project with a 15,000 TL subsidy for young people and women is also being implemented. Within the scope of this project, students and housewives will be able to work in areas such as social services, libraries, and education.
WHO CAN BENEFIT FROM OPTIONAL INSURANCE?
The optional insurance system grants individuals who meet certain conditions the right to pay insurance premiums without the obligation to work. In this context;
Those residing in Turkey
Those not working in a job that requires mandatory insurance
Those working less than 30 days a month or not working full-time
Those not receiving a retirement pension from any social security institution
All individuals who have reached the age of 18
can apply to this system to obtain social security and retirement rights.
HOW WILL APPLICATIONS BE MADE?
Those who wish to become optionally insured can apply to the Provincial Social Security Directorates or Social Security Centers in their region of residence with the "Optional Insurance Entry Declaration" found in the Social Insurance Transactions Regulation.
Applications will be processed upon the submission of the necessary documents, and individuals will be considered insured from the date they begin paying premiums.
HOW MUCH PREMIUM WILL BE PAID?
The optional insurance premium is calculated as 32 percent of the monthly earnings base determined by the insured. The lowest monthly premium amount to be paid for the year 2025 is:
8,321 TL
Of this payment;
20 percent will be allocated as disability, old-age, and death insurance premium
12 percent will be allocated as general health insurance premium.
WHAT HAPPENS IF PREMIUM PAYMENTS ARE DELAYED?
Insured individuals can make their premium payments within 12 months along with a late payment interest. However, if no payment is made for 12 months, the insurance status will be terminated.
HOW TO RETIRE?
To retire through the optional insurance system, at least 5,400 premium days (15 years) must be completed. Individuals who have previously worked in an insured job can earn the right to retire by completing their missing days through optional insurance.
HOUSEWIVES AND YOUNG PEOPLE WILL ALSO BE ABLE TO RETIRE
Women and young people working at home will be able to earn the right to retire by obtaining a tradesman exemption certificate and paying premiums.
Housewives and young people will be able to become insured by paying premiums based on the gross minimum wage.
The lowest premium payment for 2025 has been set at 8,321 TL.
Insured housewives will also be able to benefit from general health insurance.
INSURANCE OPPORTUNITY FOR THOSE WORKING IN DOMESTIC SERVICES
Those working in domestic services such as caregivers and cleaners will also be able to be insured. However, this insurance status varies according to the working duration:
Those working less than 10 days a month for the same employer can be insured by paying their own premiums.
The monthly premium amount to be paid in this context: 8,451 TL
For those working more than 10 days in domestic services, their employers are required to pay the premiums.
Those who complete their missing days to 30 days will be considered insured under the 4/1-a (SSK) scope.
WHAT ARE THE CONDITIONS FOR THE 15,000 TL PAYMENT?
Part-time job opportunities will be provided for housewives, university students, and individuals with disabilities. They will be able to work in areas such as social services, libraries, and education.
Working hours will not conflict with school hours, and the program will last for a maximum of 10 months. In the first stage, 60,000 young people will benefit from the project, and this number will be increased gradually. Young people will be paid a monthly salary of 15,000 TL. Additionally, part-time work-from-home opportunities will be offered to housewives and women who have left their jobs due to having children.
