The labor representative, TÜRK-İŞ, was expecting figures from the employer and government representatives. However, as no figures were discussed, TÜRK-İŞ held a press conference to announce its wage demands for the first time.
TÜRK-İŞ'S WAGE HIKE DEMAND IS 29 THOUSAND 593 LIRAS
TÜRK-İŞ President Ergün Atalay stated that the purchasing power of the minimum wage has fallen to 11 thousand liras.
Stating that the minimum wage is a subsistence wage, Atalay said, "As minimum-wage workers, we want a welfare share added to the minimum wage on top of the 45 percent inflation rate. Our demand is for the figure to be increased to 29,583 liras by adding a 20 percent welfare share."

TÜRK-İŞ's minimum wage demand is equivalent to a 74 percent hike. Political parties had also announced their minimum wage demands as 30 thousand and above.
