Warning for retirees: Deadline is January 14! 'If the petition is not submitted...'

The 30 percent salary advantage that directly affects the retirement decisions of employees continues to resonate widely with the public.

Chief SGK Expert İsa Karakaş stated that the deadline to benefit from this advantage is January 14, 2025, and emphasized that retirement applications must be submitted on time.

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN 2024 AND 2025 SALARIES

Those who became eligible for retirement in the second half of 2024 will experience a significant loss of income if they postpone their applications to 2025. Those who apply in 2024 will receive a 30 percent higher pension compared to those who apply in 2025.

Karakaş stated, "We have reached 2025, but the 30 percent gap has still not closed. There are still those waiting. However, to benefit from this advantage, applications must be submitted by January 14, 2025, at the latest."

THERE IS A 30 PERCENT GAP

Referring to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) data for December 2024, Karakaş noted that monthly inflation was announced at 1.03 percent and annual inflation at 44.38 percent. Stating that these rates are in line with expectations, Karakaş said, "The 30 percent gap that emerged in 2024 has not closed, and it does not seem possible for it to close in the short term."

Karakaş stated that public employees will gain a salary advantage of up to 4,825 TL each year, but private sector workers benefit from the old ceiling. "Unfortunately, private sector workers cannot benefit from this opportunity. There is no different regulation for them," he said.

IMPORTANT WARNING FOR RETIREMENT APPLICATIONS

The Chief SGK Expert stated that applications should not be left until the last day and offered the following advice:

E-government, SGK, or Mail: Any of the application methods can be used, but remember that there is a risk of the cargo arriving late for applications made by mail.

Do Not Miss January 14: If the delivery date of the cargo exceeds January 14, the applications will spill over into 2025 and the 30 percent advantage will be lost.

Decide Quickly: "In my professional life, such an advantage has never been seen before. It is difficult for such an opportunity to arise again after this," he said.

It was stated that with the 11.54 percent raise linked to the civil servant salary coefficient, the ceiling fee increased from 41,828 TL to 46,655 TL. Stating that this situation provides an advantage for public employees every year, Karakaş warned, "The limits of retirement salaries are clear; do not believe exaggerated promises."

Karakaş said, "Do not wait for the last day for such a decision that affects your life. Take action to benefit from the advantage. After January 14, 2025, this opportunity may slip through your fingers."
