The possibility of an interim raise in July for the 2025 minimum wage, which rose to 22,104 liras with a 30 percent increase, is being discussed.
Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan, in a statement he made on the subject in recent days, said, “We must protect the purchasing power of our citizens. If a need arises, we can make an update by taking a decision in the Economic Coordination Council.”
WILL THERE BE AN INTERIM RAISE FOR THE MINIMUM WAGE?
Social Security expert Özgür Erdursun pointed to the inflation rates of the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) and stated that current targets reduce the possibility of an interim raise for the minimum wage.
Erdursun said, “The targeted inflation is set at 21 percent. If these rates are met, I do not expect an interim raise in July.”
