Getir to acquire US online grocery company FreshDirect

Getir has announced that it will acquire the New York-based online grocery company FreshDirect from Ahold Delhaize USA, one of the largest food retail groups in America. The deal is expected to be completed within the month of November.
FreshDirect will leverage the technology and operational experience of Getir, which has been operating in the US since 2021, to provide its users with a faster and more convenient service. Getir, in turn, will benefit from FreshDirect's expertise, particularly in the quality and variety of fresh produce.
Following the completion of the acquisition, FreshDirect will retain its brand name and continue to operate from its facility in the Bronx borough of New York.
Founded in 2002, FreshDirect provides services in a total of 3 states, including New York, as well as New Jersey and Connecticut.
