The Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA) has completed an important regulation to eliminate the grievances suffered by consumers due to power outages. The new practice covers compensation resulting from annual outages, long-term outages, and commercial quality deficiencies.
According to NTV, the total of 1 billion 610 million liras in compensation that distribution companies are required to pay will now be reflected directly on the bills of the eligible parties without the need for an application.
Consumers will be able to access information on their bills such as the type of compensation, the total compensation amount, and the amount offset. With the new regulation, consumers will be entitled to compensation for power outages exceeding 10 hours in urban areas and 12 hours in rural areas.
The regulation in question will enter into force after being published in the Official Gazette.
