Gross wage-salary index increased by 25.1 percent quarterly

According to TurkStat data, the employment index in the total of industry, construction, and trade-service sectors increased by 3.9 percent in the third quarter of 2023 compared to the same quarter of the previous year. While the gross wage-salary index increased by 25.1 percent quarterly, the hourly labor cost index saw a quarterly increase of 22.9 percent.

The Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) has announced the Labor Input Indices for the third quarter (July-September) of 2023.

Accordingly, the employment index in the total of industry, construction, and trade-service sectors increased by 3.9 percent in the third quarter of 2023 compared to the same quarter of the previous year. When sub-sectors are examined, the index increased by 0.8 percent in the industry sector, 13.7 percent in the construction sector, and 4 percent in the trade-service sectors.

The hours worked index in the total of industry, construction, and trade-service sectors increased by 6.1 percent in the third quarter of 2023 compared to the same quarter of the previous year. When sub-sectors are examined, the index increased by 3.0 percent in the industry sector, 14.9 percent in the construction sector, and 6.2 percent in the trade-service sectors.

GROSS WAGE-SALARY INDEX INCREASED BY 113.7 PERCENT ANNUALLY

The gross wage-salary index in the total of industry, construction, and trade-service sectors increased by 113.7 percent in the third quarter of 2023 compared to the same quarter of the previous year. When sub-sectors are examined, the index increased by 107.9 percent in the industry sector, 141.6 percent in the construction sector, and 114.1 percent in the trade-service sectors.

The employment index in the total of industry, construction, and trade-service sectors increased by 1.4 percent in the third quarter of 2023 compared to the previous quarter. When sub-sectors are examined, the index increased by 0.7 percent in the industry sector, 4.0 percent in the construction sector, and 1.4 percent in the trade-service sectors.

The hours worked index in the total of industry, construction, and trade-service sectors increased by 2.1 percent in the third quarter of 2023 compared to the previous quarter. When sub-sectors are examined, the index increased by 1.2 percent in the industry sector, 4.0 percent in the construction sector, and 2.2 percent in the trade-service sectors.

GROSS WAGE-SALARY INDEX INCREASED BY 25.1 PERCENT QUARTERLY

The gross wage-salary index in the total of industry, construction, and trade-service sectors increased by 25.1 percent in the third quarter of 2023 compared to the previous quarter. When sub-sectors are examined, the index increased by 23.1 percent in the industry sector, 30.6 percent in the construction sector, and 25.7 percent in the trade-service sectors.

The hourly labor cost index in the total of industry, construction, and trade-service sectors increased by 105.3 percent in the third quarter of 2023 compared to the same quarter of the previous year. When sub-sectors are examined, the index increased by 106.5 percent in the industry sector, 112.5 percent in the construction sector, and 105.1 percent in the trade-service sectors.

The hourly earnings index in the total of industry, construction, and trade-service sectors increased by 101.4 percent in the third quarter of 2023 compared to the same quarter of the previous year. When sub-sectors are examined, the index increased by 101.7 percent in the industry sector, 110.2 percent in the construction sector, and 101.6 percent in the trade-service sectors.

HOURLY LABOR COST INDEX INCREASED BY 22.9 PERCENT QUARTERLY

The hourly labor cost index in the total of industry, construction, and trade-service sectors increased by 22.9 percent in the third quarter of 2023 compared to the previous quarter. When sub-sectors are examined, the index increased by 22.3 percent in the industry sector, 25.6 percent in the construction sector, and 23.1 percent in the trade-service sectors.

The hourly earnings index in the total of industry, construction, and trade-service sectors increased by 22.5 percent in the third quarter of 2023 compared to the previous quarter. When sub-sectors are examined, the index increased by 21.6 percent in the industry sector, 25.5 percent in the construction sector, and 22.9 percent in the trade-service sectors.

The hourly non-earnings labor cost index in the total of industry, construction, and trade-service sectors increased by 24.7 percent in the third quarter of 2023 compared to the previous quarter. When sub-sectors are examined, the index increased by 25.5 percent in the industry sector, 25.9 percent in the construction sector, and 24.1 percent in the trade-service sectors.
