The decline in hazelnut prices in the free market in Giresun continues. In the city center, the price per kilogram of 50-yield hazelnuts has fallen to 185 liras.

While prices, which started the season in the 200-lira range, were reported to have reached as high as 195 liras in some districts, the decline in the center has caused producers to turn to the Turkish Grain Board (TMO).

There is significant activity at TMO purchasing points in Giresun city center, as well as in Bulancak, Keşap, Espiye, Güce, Tirebolu, and Görele. Producers have formed queues at the purchasing points to deliver their products.

It is stated that the high volume of hazelnuts left in trust in the market is a factor in the low price levels. At the beginning of the season, the TMO had announced a purchase price of 255 liras for 50-yield hazelnuts.

At the Giresun Hazelnut Agricultural Sales Cooperative, affiliated with FİSKOBİRLİK, the price for 50-yield Giresun-quality hazelnuts is being applied at 210 liras. It was reported that the cooperative pays 4 liras and 20 kuruş per yield point.
