The new role of Murat Taşçı, who began working as an advisor at the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (TCMB) in recent weeks, has been clarified.
According to a report by Bloomberg, Taşçı has been appointed to the position of chief economist at the TCMB.
WHO IS MURAT TAŞÇI?
Taşçı, who received his academic education in economics at Koç University, later completed his master's and doctoral programs at the University of Texas at Austin.
Having served at the Cleveland Fed between 2006 and 2023, Taşçı worked as an Executive Director and Senior US Economist at JPMorgan for approximately three years after leaving that post.
Taşçı, who joined the TCMB in November 2025 as an advisor, had announced the start of this role on his LinkedIn account, and his post was also liked by Central Bank Governor Fatih Karahan.
