Historic Defterdarlık land in Istanbul included in privatization scope

In accordance with a decision signed by the President and published in the Official Gazette last week, the privatization of a total of four parcels belonging to the Treasury of Finance in Istanbul, Bursa, and Manisa has been approved. Under this regulation, the properties planned for sale may be transferred to new owners through various economic methods.

The Istanbul Defterdarlık building, located in the Cağaloğlu neighborhood of Istanbul's Alemdar district, stands out among these lands. The Defterdarlık building, which holds an important place in the city's administrative history, was used as the Grand Vizierate during the Ottoman era and as the Governor's office for many years during the Republican period. This 7,250-square-meter plot, which is adjacent to the Bab-ı Ali building that was recently restored to its original state, is located right in the middle of historical sites such as Topkapı Palace, Hagia Sophia, and the Grand Bazaar.

The Defterdarlık land in question is situated at a point overlooking the Bosphorus and is within walking distance of the city's most visited tourist destinations. This feature makes the area extremely attractive to investors.

Within the scope of the process determined by the Privatization Administration, the sales transactions are planned to be completed by December 31, 2028. In addition to the text of the decision, other public lands recently sold and their transfer prices were also shared with the public.

Some of the important properties that have changed hands through privatization recently are listed as follows: A 45,920-square-meter land in Kuşadası was sold for 1 billion 648 million 600 thousand TL, two different plots in Çankaya were sold for 775 million TL and 435 million TL, while a parcel in the Çeşme district of İzmir found a new owner for 331 million TL. Another 11,621-square-meter plot in Bodrum was transferred for 280 million TL.
