The number of house sales across Turkey in November decreased by 20.6 percent compared to the same month last year, totaling 93,514.

The Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) has announced the House Sales Statistics for November. Accordingly, house sales across Turkey in November decreased by 20.6 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 93,514. Istanbul held the highest share in house sales with 15,187 sales and 16.2 percent. Istanbul was followed by Ankara with 8,250 house sales and an 8.8 percent share, and Izmir with 5,105 house sales and a 5.5 percent share. The provinces with the lowest number of house sales were Hakkari with 52 houses, Ardahan with 57 houses, and Gümüşhane with 73 houses, respectively.

Mortgaged house sales reached 5,245

Mortgaged house sales across Turkey in November decreased by 68.5 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, totaling 5,245. The share of mortgaged sales within total house sales was 5.6 percent. Mortgaged house sales in the January-November period decreased by 33.6 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 171,706.
Of the mortgaged sales in November, 1,390 were first-hand sales; while 51,624 of the mortgaged sales in the January-November period were first-hand sales.
88,269 houses changed hands through other types of sales
Other house sales across Turkey in November decreased by 12.7 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, totaling 88,269. The share of other sales within total house sales was 94.4 percent. Other house sales in the January-November period decreased by 10.2 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 915,643.

First-hand house sales reached 30,472

The number of first-hand house sales across Turkey in November decreased by 18.5 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, totaling 30,472. The share of first-hand house sales within total house sales was 32.6 percent. First-hand house sales in the January-November period decreased by 14.1 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 328,299.

63,042 houses changed hands in second-hand house sales

Second-hand house sales across Turkey in November decreased by 21.6 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, totaling 63,042. The share of second-hand house sales within total house sales was 67.4 percent. Second-hand house sales in the January-November period decreased by 15.2 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 759,050.

2,342 houses were sold to foreigners in November

House sales to foreigners in November decreased by 61.5 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, totaling 2,342. The share of house sales to foreigners within total house sales in November was 2.5 percent. Antalya took the first place in house sales to foreigners with 790 house sales. Antalya was followed by Istanbul with 710 house sales and Mersin with 316 house sales, respectively.
House sales to foreigners in the January-November period decreased by 46.1 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 32,941.

By country of nationality, the most house sales were made to citizens of the Russian Federation

In November, citizens of the Russian Federation purchased 637 houses from Turkey. Citizens of the Russian Federation were followed by citizens of Iran with 234 houses, Ukraine with 128 houses, and Kazakhstan with 117 houses, respectively.
