Housing sales decreased by 11 percent in April
According to data released by TUIK, housing sales decreased by 11.8 percent last month compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 75,569. This marks the lowest sales figure since May 2021.

The Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) has announced the housing sales statistics for April.
Across Turkey, housing sales in April decreased by 11.8 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, totaling 75,569. The provinces with the highest number of housing sales were Istanbul with 12,406, Ankara with 6,272, and Antalya with 4,427, while the provinces with the lowest number of sales were Ardahan with 18, Hakkari with 35, and Tunceli with 49.
In the January-April period, housing sales decreased by 3.7 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, totaling 355,173.
7 THOUSAND MORTGAGED SALES
Across Turkey, mortgaged housing sales in April decreased by 67.5 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 7,071. The share of mortgaged sales in total housing sales was 9.4 percent. Mortgaged housing sales in the January-April period decreased by 57.0 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, totaling 34,693.
Of the mortgaged sales in April, 1,744 were first-hand sales, while 8,313 of the mortgaged sales in the January-April period were first-hand sales.
Across Turkey, other housing sales in April increased by 7.2 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 68,498. The share of other sales in total housing sales was 90.6 percent. Other housing sales in the January-April period increased by 11.2 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, totaling 320,480.
DECLINE IN NEW HOUSING SALES
Across Turkey, the number of first-hand housing sales in April decreased by 10.6 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 24,085. The share of first-hand housing sales in total housing sales was 31.9 percent. In the January-April period, first-hand housing sales increased by 1.3 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, totaling 112,341.
