Housing supply and economic policies discussed at the ECC

The Economic Coordination Council plans to take new steps to increase housing supply and ensure economic stability.

The fourth Economic Coordination Council meeting of 2025 was held under the chairmanship of Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz. During the meeting, the positive effects of the economic program implemented over the last two years were evaluated, and it was noted that macroeconomic foundations have strengthened.

According to the council's statement, significant progress has been made in the fight against inflation. While the disinflation process that began in June 2024 has continued uninterrupted, annual inflation fell to 35.4 percent in May 2025.

It was stated at the meeting that structural steps have been taken in critical areas such as housing, food, and energy. Policies to increase competitiveness in exports were emphasized in order to reduce the effects of uncertainties and protectionism in global trade.

FOREIGN DEPENDENCE IN ENERGY WILL BE REDUCED

Policies to reduce foreign dependence in the energy sector and increase supply security were also on the meeting's agenda. New strategies were developed to reduce energy imports, which constitute a significant portion of the current account deficit.

Developments in rent and housing prices were also addressed at the meeting. Steps to increase housing supply and policies to be followed were evaluated. The status of private employment agencies, which facilitate the placement of job seekers in suitable jobs and the establishment of temporary employment relationships, was also reviewed.

In line with the goals of the Century of Turkey, it was stated that support for value-added investments and regional development will be increased through the new Investment Incentive System. It was emphasized that the necessary steps are being taken to strengthen Turkey's position in global supply chains.
