How did the stock market close? (March 25, 2024)

The BIST 100 index decreased by 82.12 points compared to the previous close, with a total trading volume of 121.9 billion liras. The banking index gained 1.45 percent, while the holding index lost 0.15 percent.

Among sector indices, banking was the top gainer, while the information technology sector saw the largest decline at 3.52 percent.

Analysts stated that global equity markets began the week cautiously, with investors focused on a busy data calendar and forward guidance from U.S. Federal Reserve (Fed) officials.

Noting that the domestic data agenda will be quiet tomorrow, while durable goods orders, the Richmond Fed manufacturing index, and the consumer confidence index in the U.S., as well as the GfK consumer confidence index in Germany, will be monitored abroad, analysts recorded that from a technical perspective, the 9,000 level acts as support and 9,300 points as resistance for the BIST 100 index.
