How much will the lowest pension be?

As Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek noted in his statement that pensioners would be prioritized, all eyes turned to the lowest pension amounts. Most recently, pensioners whose salaries were at the lower limit did not benefit from the raises implemented in the second half of 2023. With the increase applied to base salaries, the lowest pension remained at 7,500 TL. The Ministry of Labor and Social Security and the Ministry of Treasury and Finance have begun work on pension raises.

Most recently, a 25% raise was applied to pensions in July. However, SSK and Bağ-Kur pensioners receiving the minimum amount could not benefit from this increase. While the lowest pension was raised to 5,500 liras at the beginning of 2023, it was increased by 2,000 liras with an interim raise in April, bringing it to the 7,500 lira level. The 2,000 lira difference in between was covered by the budget of the Ministry of Treasury and Finance. Since the raises in July were applied to base salaries, the lowest pension remained at 7,500 liras. Action has been taken for a pension raise within the scope of the fight against inflation. Finally, important statements regarding the pension raise came from President Erdoğan and Minister Mehmet Şimşek.

There will be no increase in the lowest pension amounts in October, November, and December. Those receiving the minimum salary will receive their increased pensions after the new year, just like other pensioners.

In his statement following the Cabinet meeting held earlier this week, President Erdoğan stated that the situation of pensioners would be reviewed again at the beginning of the new year.

Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek, while emphasizing that employees and pensioners would not be crushed by inflation, said, "We will prioritize our pensioners in the coming period."

Pension raise rates have not yet come to the agenda. However, 3-month inflation was realized at a rate of 25.11%. It is expected that an increase above inflation will be made to pensions. We have calculated the lowest pensions for you according to the raise rates.

HERE ARE THE NEW LOWEST PENSIONS TO BE RECEIVED STARTING FROM JANUARY ACCORDING TO THE RAISE RATES TO BE APPLIED:

In the event of a 25% raise to the lowest pension, the salary will increase by 1,875 liras and rise to 9,375 liras.

- In the event of a 30% raise to salaries, it will increase by 2,250 liras and rise to the 9,750 TL level.

- If the raise rate is 35%, the 10,000 lira threshold will be exceeded, and the lowest pension will rise by 2,625 liras to 10,125 liras.

- If the raise rate is 40%, the lowest pension will increase by 3,000 liras and rise to 10,500 liras.

- In the case of a 45% raise, it will be 10,875 liras, and in the case of a 50% raise, the lowest pension will be 11,250 TL.

NOTE:

The pension raise rates for SSK, Bağ-Kur, and the Pension Fund (Emekli Sandığı) have not yet been determined. The calculations have been prepared as estimates. Pension raises will become clear at the beginning of the new year.
