İnan Mutlu shares a striking table... Working hours never end in Turkey: We work a lot, we earn little

Turkey has become the country with the highest rate in Europe for those working more than 49 hours per week. Experts link this situation to low wages and rising costs of living.

According to the latest data published by the European Statistical Office (Eurostat), 25.9 percent of employees in Turkey work more than 49 hours per week. This rate has placed Turkey in first place among all countries in Europe.

Economist İnan Mutlu drew attention with a table he shared on social media. Nearly a quarter of the working population in Turkey faces a pace of work that is well above European standards in terms of weekly working hours.

In his assessment of the table, Mutlu used the following expressions:

"We work a lot, we earn little.

Turkey is the European leader in the rate of excessively long working hours.

26 percent of employees work more than 49 hours per week.

The rate in EU countries is 6.5 percent.

Due to low wages and the high cost of living, we are struggling to make ends meet by working longer hours."
