Index contract in VIOP starts the day with a decline (February 28, 2024)

The February-dated BIST 30 index contract on the Borsa Istanbul Derivatives and Options Market (VIOP) started the day with a 0.3 percent decline at 9,730.00 points.

The February-dated index contract traded at 9,730.00 in the opening session, 0.3 percent below the previous normal session close.

The index contract, which followed a bearish trend yesterday, completed the normal session at 9,755.25 points, 1.9 percent below its previous close. The index contract continued its decline in the evening session, falling to 9,733.25 points.

Analysts stated that uncertainty continues in global equity markets regarding when the US Federal Reserve (Fed) will begin interest rate cuts, noting that a cautious trend is being observed ahead of the growth data to be announced in the US today.

On the other hand, news flow regarding the meetings that Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek and Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (TCMB) Governor Fatih Karahan will hold at the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors Meeting is also in the focus of investors.
